Disable Autoplay in Windows XP

Autoplay can be extremely annoying. I’m not fond of pluggin a USB drive into my laptop and watching while XP tries to figure out what to do with it. Thankfully there’s a way to turn this off. You can turn it off either for your cd/dvd drive or anything.

First, go to Start-> Run and type “gpedit.msc”.

Now go to Computer Configuration-> Administrative Templates-> System.

Find “Turn Autoplay Off” and set it for either Nothing, CD Drive or All Drives.
