A complete real world talk time/battery life test of mobile phones

Amobil has done a comprehensive real world test of the talk time/battery life of 45 mobile phones. After spending a considerable fortune on the cellular bill, they reveal mobiles with the best and worst talk times.

To test the actual talk time and the battery life, Amobil simply placed a call in the same spot of their office for every handset, letting music continually play on both ends to simulate a conversation until the mobile phone died. In all, they’ve called for 298 hours (One can imagine the bill!!).

Talk Time
The phone with the best talk time is Sony Ericsson Z530i which kept the conversation going for an entire 8 hours. Actually, all the phones that survived for more than 7 hours were Sony Ericsson phones - Z530i, K750i and W700i.

The model that came out with the worst talk time was the Siemens SL75. It dropped the call after only 3 hours of talking.

Battery performance
Again when it comes to the best battery performance Sony Ericsson rocked. Seven of the top 10 phones in the ranking are Sony Ericsson phones and five of the bottom 10 phones are Nokia. The best performing Nokia phone was the N72 which lasted for 5 hours 51 minutes, a cool 2 hours less than the top performing Sony Ericsson.

The fact brought out in the tests was that many of the models that performed poorly are also the most expensive phones in the test. This is especially true when it comes to Nokia, which seems to accept poor battery life in its most expensive phones. So much for Nokia.
